"Make It Shake" is the 2nd single from the upcoming electronic compilation "Gukuba" between collectives Never Normal Soundsystem & ANTI-MASS.. Gukuba is born out of 12 months of sound exchanges, field recordings, & online listening sessions between East African ANTI-MASS Collective and Afro-Diasporic artists and producers indigenous to the USA within the Never Normal Soundystem.

The project came out of the two labels’ shared vision to highlight African & Afro-Diasporic connections within the artform of electronic music. “Gukuba”, the title translates from Luganda language into “it bangs/it slaps” - the term being a nod to both the artists and the beats that are the pulse of their communities. Gukuba takes major inspiration from Never Normal Soundsystem and ANTI-MASS collectives shared practice towards uplifting the sound of Black Queer & Femme artists in their respective contexts, focusing on community building while encouraging societal healing through artistic practice.

This compilation focuses on new approaches to sound and rhythms between Africa and the global Black Diaspora. There are a myriad of sonic influences in this body of work, from Techno, to Acholi Electronic, to Footwork and more. The music of Gukuba spans the sonic stories and cultural backgrounds of the 10 collaborators featured on the project.

Featured collaborators include rising artists Authentically Plastic, Turkana and Nsasi (ANTI-MASS/ Uganda) and Suzi Analogue, Heavee, NO EYES, Safiyahh, Queens D. Light and Elevation (Never Normal Soundsystem/ USA- Worldwide). The second single from Gukuba: “Make It Shake” is a powerful collaboration between producer/djs Turkana and Suzi Analogue that meshes classic juke style with the African 'shekere' and features empowering raps from Oakland's Queens D. Light to to create a catharsis on the dancefloor blending house,East African rhythms, and hip-hop into one world.
